Description
The military successor to the .30-06 Springfield, the 7.62 x 51 was adopted by NATO countries including Great Britain in the 1950’s as the small arms calibre of choice. Basically very similar to the .308 which was the sporting version of the calibre. Still used in the military as a sniper round and in the GPMG (general purpose machine gun.) It was eventually replaced as small arms calibre by the 5.56mm. Using a 168grain bullet it achieves 2600 foot pounds of energy.
Cufflink created from recycled polished brass case head (rim, extractor groove and portion of cartridge body) of the 7.62 x 51 NATO round cufflink measuring 11mm diameter by 3mm depth set on gold plated solid arm (Approx 24mm overall length)
