Description
The 7.62 x 39 Soviet is the Russian equivalent to the 7.62 x 51mm NATO. Created during the second world war it remained the soviet standard round until it was replaced in the 1970’s by the 5.45 x 39mm cartridge. The AK47 was designed specifically for the 7.62 x 39mm. Early cases were bimetallic (copper and steel) whilst later 1960’s versions were lacquered steel. It is not particularly powerful round producing 1,500 foot pounds of energy using 123 grain bullet.
Cufflink created from a recycled polished steel case head (rim, extractor groove and portion of cartridge body) of the 7.62 x 39mm Soviet round. Cufflink measuring 11.35mm diameter by 3mm depth set on sterling silver arm (24mm overall length).
